Introducing The Fabulous Quilters of Twitter
01/05/08 10:56
If you
know me at all, you will find that one of my favorite
things to be nosy about is other Quilters and their
projects. Since I have joined the mini blogging
website Twitter I have
met and chatted with many other quilters. So
recently, I asked my all quilting friends on
Twitter to tell me about their current projects. I
got a great variety of answers from beginner
projects right up to needle turn applique. Now I'm
really excited to share all these quilt stories
with you.
First of all I would like to tell you about @Retequilts. She blogs at
http://artquilts.blogspot.com and she is a quilter with a cause. She makes quilts and blankies for CPS kids. Please visit her blog in order to learn more about her quilts and how you can help.
@debroby is a quilter who can piece curves like you've never seen! I had a glimpse of her quilts and I must say I am impressed. Not only does Deb quilt, she also knits, modifies garments, and likes to garden. On top of all that Deb is one of the Editors at blogher.com, as well as blogging at astitchintime.blogspot.com AND debsdistractions.blogspot.com . Oh, did I mention that she also sings?
@Tsoniki has a website called http://craftercast.com/ where she offers podcasts for crafty people. Currently @Tsoniki is working on a TShirt quilt, and she has an interesting theory on UFOs which just may help quilters justify buying MORE fabric! You can check it out at her website.
@WolfSilverOak is a very talented Quilt Artist. She dyes her own fabrics, quilts beautiful wall hangings and makes stunning chainmaille and beaded jewelery. Visit her etsy shop, Dante's Spirit to see some of her beautiful work.
@TxNana is a quilting Grandma from Texas. She often visits me during my quilting show. She is there loyally every time I turn on the stream.
@AikoHeiwa is a Twitter friend that I chat with a LOT! We have many things in common, and she is currently working on blocks for a Baltimore Album quilt plus a stained glass mermaid quilt. She likes to tease me with talk about the Japanese Mystery Quilt that she has made. I'm dying to see pics! Amanda also is lucky enough to have access to an APQS Millenium. She says that it is a 30 minute drive to go and rent the machine. What a cool idea!
@Mamacheryl is a self proclaimed quilting addict! Currently she is feeding her craving with a lap blanket for her brother, and will soon be starting a project for bloggy friend's son.
@nikongirlphots is also a quilter. She has been very busy preparing for a cross continent relocation. We wish you luck on your big move Laura!
@estherschindler is working on Bargello placemats. Personally I would LOVE to get my hands on that pattern!
@EarnestOne is currently in the middle of quilting a Snapshots quilt. She may even be finished by now! She also blogs about her life at earnestparenting.com
@burtldy has a quilt ready for quilting and promises pictures really soon!
@KitiaraTomsen is actively working on 2 quilts, first is a variable stars quilt, and the other is a quilt for her niece. She also mentions a collection of UFOs.... I think we ALL have a few of THOSE in the closet!
@AnnOhio, @pfanderson, @Sharkeysday, @SusieMonday, @mayabella, @quiltygirl, @clothworks, are all quilters and I suspect @amybwenzel is also a quilter(she was way too excited about my new long arm quilting machine!)
These last 2 Twitter Friends are aspiring quilters! @ClockworkAnge has recently purchased a new Singer and plans to make a Baby TagAlong Blankie for her little ones. Currently she is working on building a fabric stash... Which I am completely envious of as we have 4 quilter's in our little family and fabric seems to go faster than I can buy it!. I'll just have to start buying it by the bolt. @Monrae completed her first sewing project a couple of weeks ago, and she has promised pictures really soon. She was recently talked into buying a pack of Barbie Fat Quarters for her little daughter which she is planning to make into a set of Quilted Placemats.
Well there you have it! 21 great reasons to get on Twitter and start following other Quilters.
