Free Raggedy Baby Quilt Pattern

What you will need:

Three identical flannel baby fabric panels,
Batting,
Backing,
Basic quilting supplies,
Slash cutter or very sharp scissors.

Easy Instructions:
1. Measure the size of your fabric panels. Cut your batting and backing two inches bigger on all four sides.

2. Lay backing flat with the right side of the fabric down. Tape the outer edge to the floor or table top. Place the batting on top of the backing. Center the first panel face up on top of batting. Place the next panel so the design lines up with the panel below. Do the same with panel three.

3. Using safety pins, baste through all layers of the quilt. Start in the middle and work outward evenly.

4. Mark a line diagonally across the center of the quilt sandwich. Continue to mark lines outward at every half inch. Mark the entire quilt top.

5. Using a walking foot, stitch through the first line you marked, diagonally through the center. Sew along every marked line working your way out from the center, one half at a time. I found it easiest to sew in one direction, and avoid turning the quilt. Save time and help you whip this quilt off in no time!

6.Using preferably a slash cutter designed for this application or if need be a pair of scissors, cut in the center of the channels between the seams but be sure to only cut the top two panels leaving the bottom panel uncut. (thank you Cheryl for pointing out that I had left this step out.)

7. Trim off and square the outer edge of the quilt. Measure the outside of your quilt and add 20 inches. This is the length of your binding strips. Cut the binding strips 2.5 inches wide and join them to make the whole length. Press binding in half and attach to quilt. Hand stitch the binding to the back of the quilt.

8. Now toss your quilt in the dryer and see the fluffy chenille appear!
