Perfect for 2 fat quarters, or eigths for a smaller size. Pictured here are purses made from 9-10 inch squares.
1. Layer your fabrics right side up and square to the size you have chosen. Sew around the outside with right sides facing; leaving an opening, about 2 inches long. Turn fabric right side out, through the opening, and turn out the corners with a chopstick or a point tuner . Press carefully.

2. I chose to do
a fancy stitch around the outside border of my
square in a thread that matches my fabric. Top
stitching or a simple zig zag is also perfectly
acceptable. Decide which fabric you want to see
MOST on the outside. Fold square in to a
triangle, with chosen fabric INSIDE.

Fold down the top
flap of the triangle about 2/3 of the way
down.

Draw a line from
the fold line down to the bottom of the purse
on each side of the fold.

Here is the line
on right side of fold. Stitch on both of these
lines, making sure to backstitch at the top of
both sides.

Now you will take
one of the corners of your triangle and flip it
inside out to wrap around the body of the
purse.

inside out to wrap around the body of the
purse.Repeat for the other side.

Turn the bag
inside out and carefully stitch a rectangle or
square to secure the 2 flaps onto the bottom of
the bag.

With the bag
still inside out, sew across both bottom
corners to allow the bag to stand up on it's
own.

Now turn your bag
right side out. Fold down the two top
triangles, to make the top of the bag line up
with the top of the side flaps. About 1/2 inch
from the top of the bag, stitch a continuous
line round the entire bag. This will create the
tunnel for the drawstrings.

Put a safety pin
through one of the shoelaces, and thread it
through the tunnel on both sides of the bag.
Bring it out the same side it started
on.

With the second
lace, start on the other side of the bag and
thread through both sides of the purse, this
time knotting the laces on the other side of
your bag.

There you go!
Your Drawstring Origami Bag is finished.
