How To Add Side Borders:

Adding Side Borders is a very common step that you will need to learn
to complete a number of my free patterns. Here is a quick tutorial
to show you how to add side borders to your quilt.




Step by Step Instructions w/ Photos

Measure your quilt vertically through the center. This is how long your border strips will be.

Cut your strips the desired width, and trim the strips to quilt height.

Line up strips beside quilt to check for accurate length. Pin strip to quilt with right sides facing.

Start sewing your first piece, remember your quarter inch seam allowance!

Finish Sewing the first piece and without cutting thread, continue sewing 3 or 4 stitches while holding the fabric tightly towrds the back of sewing machine. These stitches will form a joiner thread in between pieces.

Adding Side Borders Instructions



Easy Instructions:

1.
Measure your quilt vertically through the center. This is how long your border strips will be.

2.
Cut your strips the desired width, and trim the strips to quilt height.

3. Line up strips beside quilt to check for accurate length. Pin strip to quilt with right sides facing.

4. Using a quarter inch seam, stitch the border to the quilt, with the border on the bottom.

5. Stitch carefully, keeping raw edged aligned. If your top is not quite even, keep the border seam allowance straight and adjust top as necessary.

6.
Start sewing your first piece, remember your quarter inch seam allowance!

7.
Finish Sewing the first piece and without cutting thread, continue sewing 3 or 4 stitches while holding the fabric tightly towrds the back of sewing machine. These stitches will form a joiner thread in between pieces.
